한복 연구 30여년 외길, 국내 대표 한복 장인 박술녀 디자이너
엄격한 품질 관리로 독보적인 아름다움 갖춰
우리나라 한복계에서 박술녀 디자이너의 이름은 이미 대명사와 다름없는 것이다. 20대 초반이지만 다른 문하생들보다 늦은 나이에 한복 일을 시작했던 박술녀 디자이너는 매일 밤잠을 줄여가며 실과 바늘을 놓지 않았고, 그로부터 30년 이상이 지난 지금 박술녀 디자이너의 한복은 한민족 고유의 아름다움을 구현하는 최고의 형태로 세계에 널리 인정받고 있다. 원단을 고르는 과정부터 철저한 마감까지 전 과정을 직접 감독하는 박술녀 디자이너는 국내 대표 한복 디자이너로서의 역량을 한껏 펼치고 있을 뿐 아니라, 헐리웃 배우에서 팝 스타 등 세계의 유명인들까지 그녀의 한복에 호감을 표시하고 있다.
세계 각지의 명품들이 그만큼의 대접을 받는 이유는 그것을 만드는 장인들의 피나는 노력이 한땀 한땀에 배어 있는 제품을 만들어내기 때문이다. 세계 어느 곳에서나 가장 작은 요소 하나하나까지 정성을 다해 만들어지는 명품 장인들은 큰 존경을 받는다. 그만큼 한복을 만든다는 것 역시 쉬운 일이 아니다. 소매의 떨어짐부터 옷고름의 모양, 또는 한복 여기저기에 달린 장신구 등 여러 가지 요소를 모두 조합해 적합한 비율로 그 아름다움을 빚어낼 수 있어야 하며, 꾸준한 사후 관리 역시 필수적이다. 박술녀 디자이너는 “장인의 정성과 열정이 깃든 명품 의상을 만들기 위해 직접 수공으로 전 과정을 거쳐 한복의 멋을 끌어올리고 있다”고 밝혔다.

다양한 방송 협찬으로 한복에 대한 국민의식 고취에도 앞장서
한국의 미를 세계에 알리는 박술녀한복의 매력에 푹 빠진 팝스타들은 매우 다양하다. 작년 5월 헐리웃 배우 클로이 모레츠의 내한 행사 당시 박술녀한복은 한복 협찬을 담당해 한국 특유의 아름다움으로 불리는 한복이 외국인들에게는 어색할 것이라는 편견을 다시 한 번 깼다. 그뿐 아니라 세계적인 오페라 가수 폴 포츠, 팝 가수 미카와 어셔, 브리트니 스피어스 등 다양한 세계의 유명인사들이 박술녀한복을 직접 체험해보고 “매우 환상적이다”라는 평을 남기기도 했다.
그뿐 아니라 박술녀한복은 2014년 종영한 MBC 주말드라마 ‘왔다! 장보리’에 한복, 침구, 소품 등을 본격 협찬하였으며 작중 배경이 되는 가상의 한복명가 비술채에서 펼쳐지는 박진감 넘치는 이야기가 박술녀한복의 아름다운 자태를 더욱 빛냈다. KBS 드라마 ‘추노’, ‘경성스캔들’ 등 시대극에서도 특유의 매력을 뽐낸 바 있다. 또한 MBC 대표 예능 ‘무한도전’의 단골 출연자 중 한 명이기도 한 박술녀 디자이너는 한복에 대한 국민의식 고취에도 노력하고 있는 국내 대표 디자이너라고 할 수 있다. 박술녀한복은 2015년 강남관광정보센터 한류전시관 한복 전시, 2013년 제35차 세계주문양복연맹총회(WFMT) 패션쇼, 2012년 제43차 세계지식재산권협의회의 패션쇼 등 다양한 활동으로 세계를 향하는 한복의 아름다움을 널리 전파하고 있다.

세계화 시대의 문화전도사로서 역할 다해
한편, 국내 대표 한복 디자이너인 박술녀 디자이너에 대한 각계의 인정 역시 남다르다. 최근 10년 간의 수상 소식만을 모아 보더라도 2006년 여성신문사 주관 베스트 기업 대상, 2008년 이노베이션 기업 브랜드 한복연구가 부문 대상, 2011년 동아TV 주관 KOREA LIFESTYLE AWARDS 올해의 한복문화예술 공로상, 2012년 여성소비자신문 주관 여성소비자가 뽑은 참 좋은 브랜드 대상 특별상, 2014년 대한민국 한류대상 한복 부문 수상 등 국내 유수의 시상식에서 다양한 업적을 올리며 국내 대표 한복 디자이너의 명성을 다시 한 번 알리고 있다.
또한 박술녀 디자이너는 작년 연말 서울프레스센터에서 열린 헤럴드경제 주최 ‘2015 대한민국 문화경영대상’에서 한복 브랜드 부문을 수상하며 다시 한 번 주목을 받았다. 이번 시상식은 헤럴드경제 주최, 월간파워코리아, 한국소비자경영평가원이 주관한 시상식으로서, 건전한 기업 문화를 창출하고 사회의 각 분야에서 뛰어난 경쟁력을 지닌 인물∙기업∙기관 등을 선정해 시상하는 행사였다. 특히 ‘문화경영’이라는 주제 아래 경기도 수원시∙이천시, 경상북도 영천시, 전라북도 진안군 등 6개 지자체와 함께 50여 기업이 선정되었는데, 우리나라의 대표적인 의복인 한복을 대표하는 인물로서 박술녀 디자이너는 명품 한복의 대표 브랜드로서 뛰어난 업적을 보유해 수상에 이견이 없을 정도였다.
박술녀 디자이너의 현재는 과거의 무수한 노력과 연구를 통해 만들어진 것이다. 가장 힘들었던 순간에조차 일에 대한 열정을 불태웠던 박술녀 디자이너는 우리나라의 아름다움을 세계에 알리는 가교이자 세계화 시대의 문화전도사로서 다시 한 번 소중한 발걸음을 이어갈 예정이다.

Park Sul-nyeo is another name for Korean dress. She actually jumped into the field in hear early 20s, later than other pupils. But her passion made her almost never put down the needle and thread from her hands throughout the day and she now has become one of the Korea's most famous Korean dress designers. Park manages all the production process from choosing fabric to finish and not only Korean celebrities but many hollywood actors also display a good impression on her works. The reason the globally renowned luxury goods are loved by many is because they are the result of master craftsmen's passion and sweat. Attention to detail in unique design might be their motto. In this respect, Park is no different. She creates a beautiful Korean dress in perfect balance. She says "All of my works are hand made and I pour my passion and sweat to each work to make a masterpiece.“

Appearing on numerous TV dramas
When the actor Chloe Moretz visited Korea in May last year, Park sponsored Korean dress she made and broke the prejudice that Korean dress would not suit westerners. Also, the opera singer Paul Potts, pop singers Mika and Usher, and Britney Spears once said "It's fantastic" after trying Park's Korean dress. Park's works (dress, bedding, accessaries) were also appeared on numerous TV dramas such as MBC 'Watda! Jangbori' and there was even a Korean dress store 'Bisulchae' in the drama which enhanced the beauty of Park's works further. Other dramas include KBS's costume dramas 'Chuno' and 'Gyeongsung Scandle', and she herself regularly appeared on the show programme of MBC 'Muhandojeon'. Park also participated in numerous exhibitions and shows such as 2015 Korean Wave Exhibition held by the Gangnam Tourist Information Center, 2013 The 35th Fashion Show of World Federation of Master Tailors, and 2012 The 43rd Fashion Show of International Intellectual Property Rights Association.

To prove her fame, Park won numerous awards including 'Best Enterprise Awards' in 2006 and 'Innovation Enterprise Brand Awards' in the Korean dress researcher category in 2008 held by The Womennews, 'Korea Lifestyle Awards' in the Korean dress, culture and art category (achievement prize) held by The Donga TV in 2011, 'Women's Consumer's Choice of Good Brand Awards' (special prize) held by The Women Consumer News in 2012, and 'K-Wave Awards' in the Korean dress category in 2014. In addition, Park received '2015 Korea Culture Management Awards' in the Korean dress category. This awards is hosted by The Herald Business and run by the bilingual monthly magazine Power Korea, and the Korea Institute of Consumer Management & Evaluation. The prizes go to those people, organizations and companies who show excellent performance in terms of culture. This year, 6 local governments including Suwon City, Icheon City, Yeongcheon City and Jinan County and 50 companies won the awards and Park among the winners attracted a great attention from the media. Power Korea hopes that Park and Park Sul Nyeo Hanbok will keep contributing to spreading beautiful Korean dress to the world.
