드디어 자전거의 계절이다. 예부터 자전거는 우리 삶에 있어 꼭 필요한 도구로 알려져 있다. 자동차가 부족하고 대중교통이 부족할 당시부터 국민들의 든든한 교통수단과 운반수단으로써 자리매김해오고 있는데 이렇듯 우리의 발이 되어준 자전거는 이제 국민들의 건강지킴이로써의 역할까지 단단히 해오고 있다. 그렇기 때문에 뉴메탈텍이 개발한 ‘노토스’ 안장이 더욱 부각되는 것이 아니까싶다. 승마형 안장으로써 운동과 질병을 한방에 날려버릴 수 있는 ‘노토스’는 자전거 안장의 새로운 지평을 열며 당당히 도전장을 내밀고 있다.

㈜뉴메탈텍(대표 성윤창)의 ‘노토스’는 이미 2004년 <스위스 제네바 국제발명전>에서 스포츠레저부문 금상을 수상했고, <2010년 런던 자전거쇼>에 선보이면서 세계적 관심까지 한 몸에 받았다. ‘노토스’는 위아래로 움직이는 것은 물론, 앞뒤로도 이동이 가능하고 타는 이의 동작에 따라 승마모드, 매너모드, 주행모드, 스피드모드의 네 가지 모드로 활용할 수 있어 더욱 자전거 타는 재미를 불어넣어준다. 이밖에도 주행 시 복부비만 감소 및 요추근력 강화, 골반 및 허리통증 치료 효과, 엉덩이 통증 획기적 감소, 자전거 타기 흥미유발 등 건강지킴이로써의 역할도 충실히 해내고 있다.

이 제품은 세계 최초로 개발된 승마형 자전거 안장이며 순수 국내기술로 개발된 제품으로 로드싸이클 및 MTB 자전거의 구조는 변경하지 않고 탈부착이 가능하다. 또한 자전거의 문제점으로 지적되었던 재미적인 측면을 극대화 시켜 승마 효과를 그대로 누릴 수 있다. ‘노토스’가 더욱 주목 되는 이유는 그 기술력도 한축을 담당하고 있다. 총 중량 700~800g 정도로 안장 가이드부 이송부 완충스프링 회동스프링 지지부로 이루어져 있으며, 세계 최초로 친환경 녹생공법을 이용한 국가 열처리 기술로 만들어졌기 때문이다.

이런 기술들이 집합돼 자전거를 탈 때 느끼는 지루함을 잊고 재미와 운동, 그리고 질병을 한방에 날려버릴 수 있기에 더욱 화제를 모으고 있는 것이 아닐까 싶다. 또한 기술력과 독특함으로 해외 전시 당시 영국 일간지 가디언에 기사가 실렸을 정도로 세계적인 측면에서도 호기심을 불러일으키기에 충분하게 느껴졌다.

오는 7월부터 대대적인 대리점 모집을 강행해 전국적으로 ‘노토스’의 붐을 일으킬 것이라고 말하는 성윤창 대표. 이처럼 유쾌한 ‘노토스’ 안장을 빠른 시일에 전국에서 만나 볼 수 있었으면 좋겠다는 생각을 해본다.

오상헌 기자 : ‘노토스’를 접하고 한동안 자주 라이딩을 즐겼습니다. 일반 안장과 다른 느낌. 지루했던 자전거 라이딩의 새로운 즐거움. 모든 것이 새로웠지만 네 가지 모드를 즐기기에는 자세한 지식이 없었죠. 그러던 중 성윤창 대표를 찾아가 네 가지 모드의 방법에 대해 듣게 되었습니다. 자세하게 알려주신 대표님 덕분에 며칠 만에 방법을 터득하게 되었고 그 후로 ‘노토스’ 안장은 제 몸과 하나가 되어서 또 다른 즐거움으로 찾아왔습니다.

방법을 몰랐던 당시에는 말 등에 직접 올라타 달리는 승마와 비교해 다소 부족한 면이 보였지만 그 방법을 터득하고 타보니 승마의 효과보다 더욱 탁월하다는 느낌을 받았죠.

필자는 빠른 시일에 한강, 탄천 등 자전거를 탈 수 있는 곳에서 더욱 많은 ‘노토스’ 안장을 보는 것을 꿈꿔 봅니다.

유빛나 독자: 파워코리아 잡지를 보며 제 아이가 영어공부를 하고 있습니다. 다양한 볼거리와 다양한 인물들이 있기에 영어공부에 유용하다고 느꼈죠. 그러던 중 파워코리아에서 전화가 왔고 자전거를 탄다면 ‘노토스’ 안장을 시승해보겠냐고 말씀하시더군요. 그래서 ‘노토스’를 접하게 되었고 타본 결과 상당히 제 몸과 잘 맞았습니다. 당시 여자이기 때문에 불편함 점들이 없을까?라던 제 불신과는 달리 어느 정도 익숙해지니 이제 일반 안장은 생각하기도 싫죠. 그게 바로 ‘노토스’ 승마 안장의 매력이 아닐까 싶습니다.

For the product, it has 4 modes such as horse-riding mode, manner mode, driving mode and speed mode, which gives bikers more fun. Other than that, it is working for reducing the belly fat, hips pain extremely and motivating to ride a bike. By that, we can tell this item is really good for supporting to keep in the health.

Actually, this saddle is firstly invented riding-horse typed bike saddle in the world and it is more meaningful since Korean company manufactured it. When people use it, they don’t have to change the bike like road cycling or MTB, but it if attachable. This is why ‘Notos’ is more focused and the technique is a huge part of getting the attention from others. It weighs about 700~800g and composed of saddle guide, transmission, buffer spring, rotating spring and support. Also, it is made with a heat treatment using eco-friendly green process for the first time in the world.

From this July, the company will promote to have more agencies throughout the nation and then is willing to make a boom of Notos, according to CEO Sung Yun-Chang. So, we suppose that we would like meet this pleasant ‘Notos’ saddle over the country as soon as possible.

Trial ride review

Editor Oh Sang-Hyun : Since I knew ‘Notos’, I used to ride a bike a lot for a while. It was kind of boring time during riding a bike in the past until I met Notos. Everything was new but I didn’t have enough knowledge. In the meantime, I visited CEO Sung and could listen to how to enjoy the 4 modes. Thanks to him, I found myself to enjoy that a lot within a few days and since then, I felt like I became a part of Notos when I rode, which was great fun.

Compared to ride a horse, I once thought it was not enough to feel but, after learning the manual, it felt more than just riding a horse and the result was superb. I hope to see more riders use Notos saddle around the bike lanes like Han River and Tan River.

Reader Yoo Bit-Na : My kid is studying English with Power Korea magazine. I think that magazine is really useful to see things and various features, so it is good for learning. Meanwhile, I got a call from Power Korea and somebody asked me if I would want to have a trial ride of Notos as long as I enjoy riding. That was a chance for me to know Notos and I felt great after riding with that.
