Last March 25th, CEO Oh Jae-Yoon of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Development Corporation started to work on making the national spring water brand enhance the position by selling them in Taiwan.

Unshakable Top market share since they came out 15 years ago

Jeju Samdasoo was out on February 1998 for the first time and it smashed the market business. In 3 months later, it took the top in the bottled water brands. Since it came out, it has kept the unshakable top market share, top consumer preference, and top quality satisfaction. Like this, Samdasoo is the best brand in the spring water market, obviously. Last year, it used to be appointed to be the national premium brand by the ministry of environment. By the way, the reason why Samdasoo could be the best of water as the national spring waster is volcanic aquifer water, which is the great quality. Jeju appointed to be a clean volcanic island by UNESCO has a very unique geological structure called basaltic layer and cluster structure made from about 110 times of volcanic activities.

Volcanic aquifer water that is kept about 420m under the ground tastes good and smooth as it is mineral water similar to human body fluid, which is alkalescence (pH 7.7~7.8). So, Jeju Development Corporation is striving to protect the water resource from the contamination. To raise the trust on the water, they request the test of water to get confirmed the quality of water for safely to FDA, the USA and Department of Health and Human, Japan every year. Also, about the plastic bottle, they built up the high technology facilities to get rid of the customer¡¯s doubt and request the hazard substances test and endocrine disrupter test as well to FDA and NSF once a year.



Public corporation for the inhabitants, selected to be the most ethical company in Korea

Jeju Development Corporation is Public corporation for the aim of developing the local area. Except for the investment money for the company, most of margin allocating to the Jeju Province, so the money is used in resources for the welfare business for the inhabitants. Also, they founded a scholarship foundation called ¡®Jeju Samdasoo¡¯ to foster the talents in Jeju and giving the scholarship to high school students, college students and law school graduates in the Jeju University and even supporting college students for overseas training expenses. Furthermore, they are developing a new product, which is beer called ¡®Jespi¡¯ made from Jeju clean barley mixed with clean volcanic aquifer water. This special local beer project has an ultimate goal for making lots of profit and increasing job opportunity and even new tourism resource in the end with 100% of barley in Jeju. Jeju Development Corporation established Jeju water industry research center to study the water from Jeju last July. This is located near Jeju Samdasoo factory and composed of 1 basement and 2 floors on the ground. There is also a promotion exhibition about Jeju groundwater and water industry in Jeju and wawter resource information management system. In addition, Jeju Development Corporation has been trying to preserve ¡®Gotjawal¡¯, which is called a repository of ecosystem in Jeju with 2 billion for last 10 years. Now, they are agreeing with the Gotjawal share foundation to do more various projects together. Certainly, Jeju Development Corporation has been doing lots of things for Jeju, and finally, they became the most ethical company in Korea last March since their business was authorized as fame.

Last year, they exported to China, Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, Philippines, Saipan and Thailand but this year, they will make it 14 countries including Hong-Kong, Vietnam, Mongol, Kazakhstan, India, Australia and Arab Emirates. So, they got an award of Export tower Order with $1.8 million last year, and this year, they are looking for $5 million of margin.
