비파괴검사 분야 25년 노하우
비파괴검사(NDT : Non-Destructive Testing)란 재료나 제품의 원형과 상태, 기능을 파괴하거나 변형시키지 않고, 그 성질 및 상태, 내부 구조, 결함 등을 알아내는 검사를 말한다. 주로 구조물이나 설비의 안전성을 확보하기 위해 사용되는 비파괴검사는 대상에 물리적인 에너지를 적용하고, 상태나 결함에 따른 에너지 변화량을 측정 및 해석하는 기술이 핵심이라고 볼 수 있다. ㈜아이텍기술은 이러한 비파괴검사 분야에서 25년의 노하우를 쌓아오고 있는 전문기업이다. 특히 우수한 현장경험과 기술력을 바탕으로 국가기간산업인 발전소, 가스저장설비, 석유화학플랜트 등 주요 사회기반시설에 대한 품질 및 안전성 확보에 주력하고 있다.

김헌영 대표는 “품질검사에 있어 가장 핵심적인 요소는 언제, 누가, 어디에서 행하여도 동일 검사결과를 얻을 수 있어야 한다는 점입니다. 저희는 국·내외 규격요건 충족 및 고객만족에 부합하기 위해 모든 검사원의 체계적인 교육과 훈련을 통해 관련된 자격 및 면허를 취득하고 있으며, ISO-9001 품질경영 시스템과 OHSAS 18001 안전보건체계를 완벽하게 갖추고 있습니다”라고 설명했다. 뿐만 아니라 ㈜아이텍기술에서는 한 단계 업그레이드 된 품질과 검사의 정확도를 위해 지속적인 첨단 자동화장비 신규 투자와 신기술 개발에 노력하고 있다. 이 같은 노력의 결과로 아이텍기술은 LNG저장탱크 삼척 5, 6호기 검사용역과 군장에너지 발전소 비파괴검사용역, 각종 중공업, 플랜트, 화학공장 등의 비파괴검사를 수주했으며, 2012년 약 100억에서 2014년 약 200억까지 지속적인 매출성장을 기록하고 있다.

검사자의 윤리의식이 중요해
비파괴검사의 품질은 검사에 사용되는 장치의 성능도 중요하지만 검사원의 자격 및 자질 또한 매우 중요하다. 특히 객관적인 데이터가 남지 않고 단지 검사의 결과가 보고서로만 작성되는 경우 더욱 검사자의 윤리 의식이 중요하다. 때문에 검사자는 적절한 장비를 사용하여 검사에 대한 자격 및 지식을 갖춘 상태에서 제대로 된 검사를 수행하고, 그 결과에 책임을 질 수 있어야 한다. 김 대표는 “이따금 뉴스보도를 통해 시험성적서의 위조나 변조, 그에 따른 관련자 처벌에 대한 내용을 접할 수 있습니다. 이러한 양심 결여의 문제는 당사자들의 처벌뿐만 아니라 해당 기업의 이미지 훼손, 산업 분야의 위축, 나아가서는 대형 재난사고를 초래할 수도 있는 문제입니다”라고 지적했다. 그는 비파괴검사 업체의 경쟁력이란 결국 이러한 부분에서 우수한 기술 인력을 얼마나 확보하고 있는가에 달렸다고 말한다. 해당 검사에서 요구하고 있는 국가자격증과 충분한 경험을 보유한 검사원, 거기에 적절한 장비가 조화되었을 때에만 최상의 검사결과를 얻어낼 수 있다는 생각이다. 이에 따라 ㈜아이텍기술에서는 필요로 하는 분야 및 기술 습득을 위해 검사자의 교육을 지원하고 있으며, 자격증을 획득해 결과적으로 회사 전체의 기술력 증대에 기여할 수 있도록 하고 있다.
김 대표는 “올해 저희 회사의 중점 추진방침은 첫째로 안전 및 품질관리 강화, 둘째로 개인생산성의 향상입니다. 최근 개정된 원자력안전법을 준수하는 동시에, 타사 대비 경쟁력을 확보할 수 있도록 효율적인 업무에 주력할 생각입니다”라고 밝혔다. 또한 김 대표는 조선 및 화학 정유공장의 비중을 확대해가며, 특수한 검사장치와 검사원을 다수 확보해 사업 영역을 넓혀나갈 방침이라 덧붙였다.
안전이 무엇보다 중시되고 있는 현재, 비파괴검사 분야의 전망은 매우 밝다. ㈜아이텍기술이 꿈꾸고 있는 도약이 국내를 넘어 해외시장에서도 그 빛을 발하게 되길 기대한다.

25 years of knowhow in non-destructive testing
NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) is a method to test a product’s character, status, inner structure and defect without modifying or destructing its original form, status and function. It is core technology to measure and analyse physical energy variation and is mainly used to secure safety of structures and facilities. The company carried out numerous testings for LNG Storage Tank 5 and 6 in Samcheok, Gunjang Power Plant and other various heavy industries, plant and chemistry factories. The company achieved 10 billion won sales ($10M) in 2012 and 20 billion won in 2014.

Examiner’s ethics is very important
Non-destructive testing not only requires cutting edge equipment but also, and more importantly, the ethics of the examiner especially when the results only without the process is recorded. This means that the examiner is responsible for the testing. Kim said “We can sometimes hear from the news about malpractice in tests and the subsequent consequences. This lack of conscience not only damages the ethics of the examiner but also the company’s image and moreover causes a disaster.” For this reason, the competitiveness of a company depends on securing professional examiners with good ethics. In other words, qualified examiner with good ethics and experience and appropriate equipments can draw accurate test results.
Kim said “Our goal this year firstly is strengthening safety & quality management and secondly improvement of individual productivity. Meanwhile, we will keep following Nuclear Safety Law as we always did and increase our work efficiency and competitiveness.” Currently, Kim is planning to expand his scope of business to shipbuilding and securing topnotch equipments and manpower for it.
