JDC실용전문학교는 1997년 여호수아워십댄싱신학원으로 시작해 2012년 JDC무용센터로 개칭한 후 한국직업능력개발원에서 워십댄스 지도자 1, 2급과 실버웰빙댄스지도사, 웃음지도사, 레크레이션지도사 등 민간자격증 취득 자격을 인정받았다. 이러한 결과로 2013년 현재의 명칭인 JDC실용전문학교로 다시 한 번 명칭을 변경하게 된다. JDC실용전문학교는 지난해 11월 28일 기존의 학점은행기관에서 교육부 인가 학위 발급이 가능한 전문학교로 승격되었으며, 이에 따라 JDC실용전문학교의 학사과정을 이수하게 되면 더욱 전문적인 직업 선택이 가능해질 전망이다.
JDC실용전문학교 이소영 이사장은 “우리 JDC실용전문학교는 유행의 첨단을 달리는 강남에 위치한 도심형 학교라고 할 수 있다. 무용지도자 양성에서 가장 중요한 것은 직업적인 부분에서의 실력 향상과 함께 인성이 바로 설 수 있는 교육을 실시하는 것이라고 생각한다”며 이번 실용전문학교로의 승격에 대해 자신감을 표시했다. JDC실용전문학교는 세종대학교 무용학 박사 과정을 졸업한 이소영 이사장과 한양대학교 무용학 박사 이로사 교수 등 다양한 교수진을 갖추고 인성계발과 체계적 교육에 힘써나갈 예정이다.

워십댄스와 실용무용, 무용예술 포괄하는 다양한 학부 과정 보유해
아시아, 남미 등 다양한 지역에서 캐럴댄스 공연으로 호흡해
JDC실용전문학교는 워십댄스뿐만이 아니라 실용무용과 무용예술까지 포괄하는 다양한 학부 과정을 보유하고 있어 단지 기독교적 정신에만 국한되지 않은 자유로운 분위기 속에서 인성을 배양하고 더욱 나은 개인으로 거듭날 수 있는 교육과정을 보유하고 있다. 특히 전세계적인 한류 열풍으로 인해 더욱 각광받고 있는 스트릿댄스, 캐릭터댄스, 힙합, 재즈댄스 등 전문무용수 배양을 위한 실용무용학부와 발레, 한국무용, 현대무용 등 순수 무용에 더 가까운 전문적인 예술가를 키워내는 무용예술학부 등 다양한 학부 과정 중에서 학생들은 스스로 진로에 대한 생각을 할 수 있는 시간과 여유를 갖게 되며, 이에 따라 학생들 중 많은 수가 워십댄스와 지도자 과정에 진학하는 것 외에도 방송댄스 등 실용적인 부분으로 진로를 정하는 경우도 많다고 한다.
한편, JDC무용예술원은 설립 이후 지속적으로 가깝게는 중국과 일본 등 아시아 지역부터 더 멀게는 파라과이, 볼리비아, 브라질, 온두라스 등 남미 지역과 이스라엘 등지에 이르기까지 다양한 지역에서 캐럴댄스 공연을 펼치며 세계인들과도 꾸준히 호흡을 맞춰오고 있는 중이다. 사전에 현지 단체와 철저한 조율을 거쳐야 하며, 가까운 지역으로는 1~2주 스케줄이 가능하지만 남미나 이스라엘 등 먼 곳을 갈 때는 1달 가까운 스케줄을 잡아서 이동해야 하는 수고로움을 마다하면서도, 이소영 이사장은 자비를 들여 현지인들과 함께 호흡한다. 이 이사장은 “캐롤도 처음 만들어졌을 당시에는 왈츠와 같은 춤곡이었다. 사랑과 평화라는 메시지를 전달하는 캐럴댄스를 통해 즐거운 공연을 보여주니 현지인들도 좋아했고, 우리 역시 마음이 뿌듯했다”며 지속적으로 해외 공연을 이어갈 것이라는 뜻을 밝혔다.

작년 12월, 상명대 계당홀에서 ‘남미의 크리스마스’ 공연 가져
무용과 헬스트레이닝 접목한 GX 프로그램 진행할 것
JDC실용전문학교는 작년 12월 23일 상명대학교 상명아트센터 계당홀에서 한 해의 성과를 돌아보고 남미 선교의 성과를 발표하는 시간을 갖기도 했다. 이날 펼쳐진 공연의 제목은 ‘남미의 크리스마스’로 세계열방선교를 위한 단초가 될 남미에서의 감상을 나누는 자리가 되었으며, 이날을 위해 준비한 여러 공연 팀의 눈부신 공연도 이어졌다.
한양대학교 무용학과 황규자 교수, JDC실용전문학교 홍보 이사이자 국․영문 잡지 월간파워코리아의 발행인인 백종원 대표 등 여러 관계자가 참석해 자리를 빛냈으며, JDC실용전문학교 학생들의 힘찬 공연과 함께 2015 대한민국 선교무용대회 1등을 수상한 동성교회 워십팀, 이탈리아 칼리브리떼 공연에 참여한 신혜진 무용가, 한국시낭송선교회 이강철 회장과 양오중학교 전명자 교장, 2015 코리아 인터내셔널 탱고 챔피언십을 수상한 무스타노 & 제니 발레리아(Mustano & Jennie Valeria), 유니버설 필하모닉 정월태 지휘자, 제1회 CCM어워즈 7대 가수상을 수상한 유은성 등 초대 가수들의 다채로운 공연이 펼쳐졌다. 이소영 이사장은 “내가 받은 사명은 선교사이자 교사라고 생각한다. 선교사를 키우면서 무용으로 복음을 이루는 JDC실용전문학교의 노력이 성과를 맺고 있다고 생각한다”고 밝혔다.
이소영 이사장은 향후 선교무용가로서만이 아니라 많은 사람들을 건강하게 만들 수 있는 건강지도사 인력을 키울 수 있는 방법을 찾고 있다고 전했다. 전문적인 서비스 리더십 과정을 개설함과 동시에 비전이 맞는 헬스클럽과 MOU를 체결하고 JDC실용전문학교 출신 학생들이 직접 현장에서 무용과 헬스 트레이닝을 접목한 GX(Group Exercise) 프로그램을 진행하는 것이다. 이소영 이사장은 “우리 JDC실용전문학교를 졸업한 학생들이 단지 선교무용가로서만이 아니라 많은 사람들을 건강하게 할 수 있는 건강지도사로서의 역할을 할 수 있다면 또 다른 직업창출의 예로서 좋은 선례를 남길 것이다”라고 밝혔다. 신학과 예술, 생활의 조화를 이루어가는 JDC실용전문학교의 발걸음에 월간파워코리아는 거듭 큰 응원을 보낸다.

JDC Dance Arts started with the name Joshua Worship Danc Academy in 1997 and changed its name to JDC Dance Center in 2012 and again to the current name by obtaining Worship Dance Instructor Certificate level 1 and 2, Silver Wellbeing Dance Instructor Certificate, Smile Instructor Certificate and Recreation Instructor Certificate (all private certificates) approved by the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education & Training. On 28 last November, JDC was accredited as a special school from the Ministry of Education and it can now issue diploma and degree. Principal Lee says "We are located in Gangnam District. I think that the most important thing for a dancer is to have good technique and personality." Lee obtained a PhD in dance at Sejong University and another Dance PhD Prof. Lee Ro-sa at Hanyang University is teaching students at JDC.

JDC provides a variety of courses including worship dance, practical dance, dance art, street dance, character dance, hip-hop, jazz dance, ballet, Korean dance and modern dance. According to statistics, many students want to take the Worship Dance Instructor Course and Broadcasting Dance Course eventually. Meanwhile, since its establishment, JDC has given performance of Carol Dance in China, Japan, Paraquay, Bolivia, Brazil, Honduras and Israel in collaboration with local dancers. Lee has to closely work with the local organizations to organize the event and all the cost of 1 to 2 weeks stay in Asian countries or a month stay in other countries come from her own pocket. Lee says "The original form of carol was waltz and it delivers a message of love and peace. Whenever we performed Carol Dance, the audience loved it and we felt really worth. We will keep carrying out this event.“

Holding a performance 'A Christmas in Latin America’
Introducing GX Course combined with dance and health training
JDC held 'A Christmas in Latin America' on 23 December last year at Sangmyung Art Center in Sangmyung University. Numerous renowned figures including Dance Prof. Hwang Gyu-ja at Hanyang University, and Honorary Ambassador of JDC/Chief Editor of Power Korea Baek Jong-won attended the event. Also, JDC students gave performance, and Dongsung Church Worship Team (won the first prize at 2015 Korea Missionary Dance Competition), the dancer Shin Hae-jin (participated in Italy Caribrite Performance), Chairman Lee Gang-chul of Korea Poet Reading Church and Principal Jeon Myeong-ja of Yang-o Middle School, Mustano & Jennie Valeria (won 2015 Korea International Tango Championship), Conductor Jeong Wol-tae of Universal Philharmonic, one of the 7 singers who won The 1st CCM Awards Yoo Eun-sung also gave performance in the event. Lee says "Missionary and teaching are my mission given from God and I will do this through JDC." As part of fulfilling this mission, Lee has introduced more courses such as Leadership Course and GX (Group Exercise: combination of dance and health training) Course by signing a MOU with a same-minded health club. Lee concluded "I strongly believe that JDC students will play a great role as health instructor and create diversified jobs in our society." Power Korea supports Lee and JDC Dance Arts.
